You can hire me to run a one-of-a-kind, one-night-only, one-shot RPG.
About me as a gamemaster:
My goal is to facilitate an exciting session of collective storytelling where everyone shines.
The game mechanics are there to keep things suspenseful, but I'm happy to eschew them to follow the fun.
I love one-shots because they allow the chance for experimentation and something that's not a guarantee in long campaigns: a satisfying ending!
I try my damn best not to be cringey.
My one-shot role playing games feature:
Rules-light homebrew systems that are easy to learn and prioritize storytelling over mechanics.
A welcoming atmosphere for roleplaying veterans, casual dabblers and complete newcomers.
Music, projections and physical objects to help immerse players into the world of the game.
Mini-games involving puzzles, dexterity and more.
Use of RPG safety tools such as the X-Card, lines and veils, as well as check-ins in advance, at the beginning of the session, and midway through the game to make sure everyone is having a good time. I always have a way for players to communicate concerns privately if they don't want to speak up to the group.
Check out two of my ready-to-go concepts below, and if you'd like to play, get in touch!
Gracey Manor
A haunted house with an endless stream of visitors, where the same scenes repeat again and again...
You've been invited to an exclusive tour of the most haunted house in the world, reminiscent of a certain famous theme park attraction that shall not be named, full of spirits both kooky and spooky. But beware: Once you enter, you realize the only way out... is through.
FACT SHEET:
PLAYERS: 3-6
PLAY TIME: 3-4 hours (including character creation and two breaks -- game can be condensed if desired)
PLAYER CHARACTERS: Living humans with a motivation to accept an invitation to tour Gracey Manor. During character creation, each PC forms a pre-existing relationship with one or more of the other PCs.
I BRING:
Fate Dice, pencils, Sharpies, character sheets, name tags, Macbook, portable projector with clamp arm, cables, bluetooth speaker, LED "crystal ball," LED votive candles, other game supplies
TECHNICAL NEEDS FOR STAGING:
Room needs to get as dark as possible (must play at night if there are windows w/o blackout curtains)
There needs to be a blank wall or a projector screen directly behind where I sit. The projection is aimed at my face for the entire game
Place to put projector -- either on a shelf or with the use of my mounting arm
Table large enough for everyone to have space for their character sheet and dice, my laptop, the LED "crystal ball" which is the main source of lighting, and more props that will come out during the game
A place to plug in my laptop
Small side table or extra chair for my game supplies
I recommend incense to make things extra moody
